Just stick with the Z170 board. You could save like £30 and grab a cheaper mobo, but you'd be sacrificing SLI support and aesthetics anyway, and there's really not much else you could add for the difference in price between mobo's.

Mobo matches the GPU better, and the Z170A Gaming Pro has LEDs on the board. Also, 6600 has gone up a bit in price recently, so just get the 6500. The 6600 is slightly faster, but barely, so it's not worth spending £20 or so more for it IMO. The only difference between a Xeon and and an i5-6500, is that the Xeon has 8 threads, instead of 4. You don't need the HT offered with Xeon's, and i7's for gaming though, a quad core i5 will be fine. Also, as I said, DX12 is going to bring better support for CPUs anyway.

What about the I7 6700, isn't this better??

No.

i7-6700, Xeon E3-1230 V5, i5-6500 and the 6600k are all the same chip, just that the 6600k is unlocked and overclockable, and the i5's have HT turned off, while the Xeon and i7 don't. The i5's and i7 have iGPU, the Xeon doesn't, but iGPU makes no difference to you since you'll be using a dedicated GPU.

So, an E3-1230 V5 would be a wiser purchase than a 6700, but a 6500 will do you absolutely fine. The only reason you should go with the Xeon instead, is if you feel like you're going to be doing lots of editing/rendering etc.

I won't be doing any editing. I don't mind spending the extra for the 6600 for a bit more speed tbf.

Just get the 6500, it will be perfect for you. If you're going to spend more, you could grab a 6600k, which I'd do, just to have the option of overclocking in case you change your mind in the future and want to dip your toes in to OC'ing.

No, those Amazon links are wrong. The PSU is a G1, which is shit. It's a GS or G2 unit you want, not the G1, especially when the G1 unit is more expensive. The motherboard is also wrong.

Everything else is fine though. As you're going with a black/red colour scheme, you can get the RAM in red. It's actually a bit cheaper to get the red version of that RAM on Amazon, just FYI, so you might want to grab the red kit instead.

This is the motherboard you want to be getting;

550W is more than enough for an i5 and a single 980Ti, so you don't need to spend the extra on the 650W unit, unless you want peace of mind and don't mind spending a bit extra. Oh, and since you're not overclocking, you don't need to get that cooler. You'll be fine with something a bit cheaper since you're running at stock speeds anyway.

I'd take the C1, personally. It's a nice wee cooler, will do the job well and look nice in your rig.

What games do you plan on running and are you looking to bust out anything over 1080p like 4k?
