So I thought of this idea and published it in the ideas forum on the Xbox website. I'll just sum up the idea on here or you can read it in the link below.

Turn on notifications for friends only. If you hate getting messages from random people just turn on notifications for friends only. It will only pop out if a friends online, sent you a message etc.
