I have 25 GBP and i was playing Arma 3 (Exile). I was thinking of getting a new processor but dont have the money for it. I know that i would need a CPU fan, And i would get another case fan, Basically. What are the risks of OC and can i damage my pc very bad ? And if successful, Would games play alot smoother. Here:

Well the risk of over clocking is breaking the part you are over clocking.

The benefit from over clocking is having a faster build.

Also if you fry your processor for incidence and you had a warranty 99% of the time the warranty is voided.

Just look up over clocks online and do a stable over clock and you should be good!

Bellow is the easiest way to over clock, It only takes 1 minute. :trollin:

Its pretty hard to fry a CPU nowadays. They have so much protection, that even the most stupid of overclocks wouldn't do much. But if you turn the protection settings off, then its another story.

The issue your having is that your using a dual core CPU to run a hard to run game. Overclocking will help, but not as much as an upgrade. You should be able to overclock on the stock fan. That little Pentium doesn't produce much heat at all.

Since you own the Pentium G3258... I would say to everyone, overclock that bitch...

There are no risks really anymore, with all the over voltage cut off's and temperature cut off's.

I had my old one at 5.2GHz, it didn't like it at all, but it was there...

I think i got it to 102C one day... That was the fun times of owning a Intel chip.

Get a TX3 or 212 EVO fan (cooler master), it fits most motherboards now days and a great fan for 20$ (TX3) and 30$ (212 Evo)

You're not getting a cooler and case fans for £20. Sure, you could add a bunch of £1 fans or something, but they'd be shit so not even worth it.

I'd get a Raijintek Aidos for 15GBP from OverclockersUK as its got better mounting hardware than the Hyper 212 and runs just aswell with smaller footprint.

As long as you do not increase the voltage too much to the processor then you are safe from damaging the processor. Heat will cause the processor to throttle then shut off if it becomes dangerous.

You should note however, instability from bad overclocks can cause systems to crash sometimes during important operations which can corrupt or damage operating system installations so please backup your system frequently.
