Depends what you require most...

Practicality or Good looks.

Z4 if you want a nice drive and look good while doing so.

118i if you want to look good while having the practical sides of a car.

Personally for me, I'd be looking at the 118i.

Personally would have a Z4, but if you need more than two people in the car... 118i.

Z4 probably still has some good boot space.

Look at the cost to own one of those cars / how much is it going to be repair simple things like a catalytic converter? Can you afford the insurance? I've never owned a BMW, but everyone I know that has / had one says they are a Big Money Waster.

Wouldn't have either, why spend money on a BMW when it's not a 6 cylinder?

Z4, my mom has one, the 2.0 too.
It sounds nice, would be badass with adecent exhaust on it, however it lacks in space, it is quite hard for myself (6ft) to get in the vehicle and the wheel for me is too low. Car is nice to drive though i'll give it that.
