Well theres multiple things you can upgrade.

Upgrade your CPU to like a i7 4790k for those high intensive CPU games w/ a Cooler for OC.
Crossfire your R9 390 and get a better PSU. (So you can play 1440p no problem and take advantage of that 1440p monitor )
Get an extra monitor.
Get a better HDD since seagate isnt really the best.

I understand its mostly for gaming so I would crossfire your R9 390 and get a better PSU but then I would say get a better CPU for the CPU intensive games. Its up to you this is all I could think of atm.

Depends on what you REALLY feel like you need. If you keep having your CPU capped out get a better CPU w/ a Cooler. If you arent getting the FPS you really want crossfire and get a better PSU w/ more wattage. If you feel like you would like another monitor get another monitor. If your SSD isnt big enough/HDD get another one.

And yes that build will play almost any game maxed out at 1080p. But games like GTAV (games that are CPU heavy) will cap your CPU and you may experience fps stuttering etc.

Basically crossfire is just doubling your GPU. So you will have 2 GPUs instead of one (2 R9 390's) and basically its not like you add another one and you have double the performance. Its basically 70% performance more so its like having a GTX 960 and a R9 390 in the same system. If you crossfire you will be def playing 1440p and it will be up with the GTX 980ti/980! (NOT TO CONFUSE YOU I WAS USING THE GTX 960 AS A REFERENCE) (YOU WILL STILL HAVE 2 R9 390s IN THE SAME SYSTEM! AND YOU CANT CROSSFIRE TWO DIFFERENT CARDS (R9 390 and R9 380)

Just get that card and add it to your PC but you will also need a new PSU. IM not really good with PSUs but I can recommend one. Now a decent 900 or so watt PSU will do the trick but to be safe if you are Overclocking or just want to be safe get a 1000w... Im not the best with PSUs as I said and what not but from my experience a 1000w will be enough for both cards a some future upgrades.

This might be a lil over budget but as I said im not the best with PSU's but if you can spend the extra $15 or so its worth and good luck.

There is really 2 ways you can take this like stated above.
You can upgrade to Skylake and grab another SSD:
i7:

i5:

The i5 isn't really needed but if you wish to upgrade to skylake and don't wanna upgrade to an i7 (Why not?)

You can upgrade your PSU and add a second 390:

One 390 is fine for 1440p. If you want to add a 2nd, get another of the same cooler you already have, two different coolers look weird. Remember to enable XFire when you add the card. You don't need anywhere near 1000W for XFire 390's, 850W is more than enough for an XFire 390 rig with an OC. It's also not necessarily 70% extra performance. Scaling depends entirely on the game, some games will have twice the performance with 2x390's, some won't perform any better with the 2nd 390. XFire 390's will out-perform a 980Ti, but a single 980Ti is a better option.

Your current PSU will be a bit tight, but you should manage XFire 390's on it. If you want to be safe, get an 850G2.

If you have $500 now, I'd honestly just sell your i5, try get at least $120, then use the $620+ for a Xeon E3-1231 V3 and a 2nd Gigabyte 390.

This build is better.

Unless you want another 390 which you can't really go wrong aka do what Sanctyy said and sell your i5 and get a v3 instead of v5 and get another 390
