Looking to get either a new monitor or a new CPU.

Looking to upgrade to an i5 CPU or to a 144hz monitor. Main game I play is CS:GO so that's the reason for the 144hz monitor. Also would I need to upgrade my power supply? I have 450W. Any help would be great.

I would go with the upgrade to a better CPU. Reason being that going from 60hz to 144hz is not that big compared to going from 30hz to 60hz. Some people have stated that going to 144hz has increased their gaming perception but it all depends on if you can even hit more than 60fps to begin with. Being that you have a i3 processor and a GTX 750ti (Decent card), it may be difficult for your system to reach that higher fps without sacrifice.

Bumping that i3 up to an i5, however, is a huge upgrade as you are going from a dual-core to a quad-core and you will get better performance in most of your games. There would be no need to upgrade your motherboard because the chipset of an i5 is already supported by it. And no, you would not need to upgrade your powersupply as the GTX 750ti runs on Maxwell architecture which is very power efficient.

It all depends on if you want to focus on CS or play new games with ease. Im not much of a CS player as I enjoy all types of games so I personally would upgrade the CPU rather than the monitor.

OP, no one can give you any sufficient help. You haven't given us a budget or currency to work with, and we have no idea what you're reasoning for an upgrade is, why are you upgrading?

Why do I need a budget? I said exactly what I wanted to get and why. I asked if a CPU upgrade is better than a monitor, I have my answer from Dovashin. Thanks anyway.

Why do you need a budget? So you can buy new shit obviously? That's quite a stupid question. CPU upgrade wouldn't make much sense at all, if all you're playing is CS:GO. Upgrading to 144Hz doesn't make much sense either IMO. You should be going with a larger resolution, as opposed to 'MOAR HERTZ'.

You may very well require a PSU upgrade. Just because the 750Ti is an efficient card, doesn't mean you should be running it on a shit quality unit, which if yours is, it should be replaced asap, same goes for your case.

If anything, I'd be upgrading GPU, but since you clearly don't want help, that's cool.

Bro what is your problem? I asked a simple question, not opinions on other upgrades. CPU OR MONITOR. Why is that hard to understand? More Hertz is said to make a big difference when playing CS, I don't want a bigger resolution. I never asked for one. As for the CPU, the i5 is what I asked for. Not, what CPU. I said which one I would get. As for the monitor, I already know which I would get. Now, I asked which one. Not, I have a budget what do I upgrade next. I have explicitly said what I wanted and asked which to go for first. You post on everyone's topics as this all knowing computer genius. Fair enough you know your stuff but when a simple question is asked you let loose and tell people they're dumb. "but since you clearly don't want help, that's cool." I asked for help, you nitpicked through my post and came to the conclusion that I don't need help. So go make yourself useful and "help" someone else because it's clear you don't know how to answer a simple question.

Higher refresh rate monitors are used primarily in games such as CS:GO... And there won't be much of a difference at 1080p vs 4k playing CS:GO.

and it's still a waste of money, the vast majority of the time. Considering you can OC most monitors to 80Hz+, fairly easily, it's much better to simply do that, than buy a new 144Hz panel, considering a huge amount of them are terrible quality. Understandable that you still have no clue what you're talking about though. Lmao.

You asked for help. You never once mentioned that you had any idea what monitor or CPU you were thinking about upgrading to. Shit, you could still mess up for all we know. You may try to pair a Skylake i5 with your incompatible motherboard. Also, if you'd have given us your budget to work with, we more than likely could have suggested a better upgrade, since it seems like you have a stock cooler, and shitty case/PSU, potentially. You also have no SSD, and a very entry level GPU.

"Any help would be great."
The very last sentence in your first post. Clearly, you were asing for help. I asked your budget and currency, and what you were looking for in an upgrade, which is when you became hostile and rude, which is exactly why I said "since you clearly don't want help, that's cool", because you were rude, and hostile. So, "Bro", what is your problem? Hmm?

What is your problem? You just seem like a dick all the time. Try being helpful and not a stuck up **** when replying. This is a prime example of what the internet is, trolls just taking things too far. I know which upgrades I want and I know that they are compatible. I'm not a tool. Also why say I have shitty components? Sorry I don't spend all my money on getting a PC that has more than it needs. ****. I play CS. Read it. I don't care that my GPU is "entry level" so no need to scrutinise every **** fine detail on my post. Just never comment on my posts again. Had enough of this bs. Stubborn af.

Alreet, since you resorted to flaming, leggo.

[quote="LedgenDx"]What is your problem? You just seem like a dick all the time.
The irony is ridiculous.

I was being helpful, asking what exactly you need help with, clearly.

I think you mean people getting butthurt when they're getting helped?

LedgenDx wrote I know which upgrades I want and I know that they are compatible.

Well, you're asking us for help, we clearly know better than you so stop crying when you're asked a couple of simple questions, k sweetheart.

I didn't. Lrn2English. Understand the word potentially? Google the definition, if you must.

You might want to look up the definition of "stubborn" fam.
