It's about the sports name. The fact you americans copied the name. That's the reason why it's called AMERICAN football.... AMERICAN!!!!!!!! Couldn't even come up with a proper name! I'm against diving in football. Most players probably are to and that's why most very likely the managers tell them to dive! I also like RUGBY! Which is better than AMERICAN football or Handegg.... Rugby players don't have padding!

Rugby doesn't hit near as hard as in American Football. If you have ever played American Football, then you know the padding doesn't do much at all to begin with.

And we didn't steal the name, widespread acknowledgement of both sports started in the early 1600's. In the beginning, American Football had a lot less rules, and it was played like soccer, so it was called football. Over time, it gained more rules, fourth downs, forward passes, and more. No one stole anything.

Its called American Football because of people like you with their "futbol".

Such a pointless arguement, and one that stems from ignorance and without much educated opinions.

The two are completely different.

Association Football, is known as football or soccer. Soccer comes from that name, as obviously does football. It depends which region of the world you're from. It's played primarily by kicking a spherical ball with the foot.

Gridiron, is knows as North American football or more commonly football in that region. It's played with an oval ball which is primarily thrown or ran with.

Now you guys aren't idiots, you surely know that. Did you know that gridiron was invented and developed based on rugby and association football?
It is played with a football, it can be kicked in game, so there is no arguement that it is not a form of football.

Of course it's more akin to rugby than association football, but that's not the point. Gaelic football has variations in the rules like gridiron, yet it is still football, just a sporting variation of it in a different culture, just like the two aforementioned variations.

So basically both are football, it's pretty irrelevant arguing over it. Who cares if people call the variations what. They are what they are, it's just the regional name for it in some cultures. I'd rather enjoy the games than argue over something so trivial.

For the record, I call Soccer, Football and gridiron, American Football. I'm from Europe, it's the culture I was brought up in, but I couldn't give an ass rats who calls what, what.

What a savage.

If more proof is needed I could find ten more gifs of hard hits in football no problem.
