ok so something that really pisses me off is having to learn to speak Spanish whilst i live in america. There is no need for this and it is just complete bs if anything the aliens need to learn how to speak english if they are going to live here. thats my opinion let me know what you guys think. if anything i think taking a class to speak another language should be a choice like a elective not mandatory.

It was switched to an elective class in my district but I still took it. You know why? Becuase it wasn't difficult learn and there* are a lot of benefits that come from learning it.
Also, how do you know that they aren't learning English? They could be struggling since it is a difficult language to learn.

I don't know what school you go to, but it's an elective in my school, so it's not mandatory

I'm too tired to explain this, basically it's there if you just went to Spain.

You don't HAVE to take foreign language classes in high school and most colleges. You can opt out of them if they aren't going to be used in your major or minor. That is what I did.

Ohhhhhhhh man having to learn a different language soooo stupid. Because being bilingual is suuuuuuuch a bad thing..?

Im dominican and I dont speak spanish in the US that often. Knowing two languages isnt bad, and you dont need to take it.

If you ever travel you better learn the language.. Dont contradict yourslf here and speak english in germany Or something

It wasn't exactly mandatory at my school, but they said you had to take it if you were going to college. Not sure how that works, but whatevs. Should immigrants try to learn English if they move here? Sure, but they will most likely not be perfect at speaking it when they do. Learning their language could help bridge that gap that may exist due to that. Also, America doesn't really have an official language, so there is really no need to get so mad about people who don't speak English or speak it well. While I was pretty bad at Spanish, I think it is good for people to learn it.

For most US schools it's mandatory to take at least two years of a foreign language which is usually mediocre. The amount you actually learn is extremely surface level and it isn't useful unless you plan to take the language all throughout high school. In most cases, people don't making the first two years pointless. Foreign langues should be a choice, not a requirement.
