I've never really understood it. I mean yes all the high end sports cars like GTR and Ferrari are auto bc they are like fast fast but like any other sports car don't you feel weird driving an auto? They are meant to have fun in, and it's hard to have fun in an auto, plus it's so boring lol. I love having the feel of shifting gears and just being able to shift whenever I want to.

I'm wanting a good debate/answer, no fighting. I'm also not hating on anyone, just want to find a logical answer lol. I can see if you get one for a killer price then you would get auto but I mean sports cars are meant to be fun and how can they be fun auto :/

Can anyone give me a valid reason behind getting an auto sports car except for:
"Can't drive manual" that's bs because I learned how to drive on real quick when I bought my Z and had to drive it on the way back. 0 help.

"Traffic" - only reason I see that is logical.

I agree, if you go with a automatic you lose horsepower. Most people go with autmatic, because they can't drive manual. Driving a manual is awesome and feels good when I am driving my mustang.

Manuals also make you a better driver because you aren't distracted by texting or anything. You have to actually focus on the road because you gotta downshift and all that. lol

That's also true, You have to focus on upshifting and downshifting the whole time. When I am driving, I don't have time to play music, so I just put all my stuff in a playlist before I drive and just turn it on.

It's hard for me to even hear my music when playing because I have a stupid loud exhaust set up LOL

Manuals are fun to drive! Except at 5 o'clock rush hour on the high way. CLutch in. Clutch out. Clutch in. Clutch out. Every few seconds. It gets a bit tiresome that way. But on open road = Amazing.

Someone with more money than sense that bought it as a status symbol.

Lebron james probably doesn't care if he's driving a new 7 speed 991 or an automatic, what he cares about is that it's flashy and probably covered in diamonds.

If the person is a car enthusiast who is buying the car because they have an interest in it, rather than an interest in the prestige the car carries, they will probably be looking for a manual trans.

Some people also just aren't interested in driving a stick. It's not that they can't learn or don't want to learn, they just prefer to drive auto. Driving auto isn't the cool kid thing to do, but if it's going to be a shared car or something you're only taking to work everyday during rush hour, they may skip the hassle of it and stick with an auto. Also this is speaking from an American's perspective, so manuals make up a lot less of the cars here than the cars in other countries.

I do agree that it's weird to get an automatic sports car in my opinion.
The only real reason I can come up with is also traffic. There should be no other reason why one would get an auto sports car over a manual one. Even driving up hills should be easy once you get used to your car. You just can't compare manuals to autos. With a manual, you feel like you have full control of your car. If you're really into sports cars but can't drive manual cars, it should be a priority to learn how to drive a stick car. "Hurr durr ima real merican, we only drive automatic cars" is not an excuse. But sadly you see it more often than you should.

If a person can drive manual cars and ever gets to drive a sports car that's NOT automatic, I'm sure that person will never ever want go back to driving an automatics sports car... Unless you use it for your normal life with lots of traffic daily. But who really does that, there's better options if you're just the average person looking for a car.

To me a manual trans. in a car is useless unless you are racing which you shouldn't be doing on the streets. Manual transmissions in my mind are for trucks pulling loads that need to down shift to go down hills and fully control the rig. A car doesn't need one. People do so many thing while driving that they can't even use the turn signal, why would you add another stick and pedal?

It's a personal preference. Some people like to have one hand on the wheel and one hand on the stick, and others like me, like to have one hand on the wheel, and one hand out the window flipping off the moron that just cut me off.
