Been using the 41212 (wide) formation lately and have seen alot of people using the 4231 formation the one with 3 cams. Just wondering if theres any negatives? and is it worth a try

It's very central, and narrow, and requires good passing in the middle of the field. The two outside CAM's are best with good pace.
