Is my rant off base?

No, lots of players are like this and I agree that it is annoying and what not.

Well, as the title states this rant is going to be about none other than... Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I recently just got my computer built and therefore have been getting more and more into the gaming side of PC. I started playing CS:GO recently and am really liking it as there is such a high learning curve which makes it fun for me. I really like the skill of the game and all of the practice and luck that goes into winning games and leveling up.

So, I have been playing for a while now and just recently hit level 3 which lets me now get into the competitive side of the game, which I thought was going to be fun. So, I join into my first competitive game on there ever and tell my team up front that I am extremely new to CS:GO/the competitive side of it. All my team is like, "Ah, cool man. Don't sweat it. We will help you out and help carry you a little because you are new." I start thinking that all the toxic players I have heard about lurking in the competitive part of CS:GO don't exist because of how understanding and nice these guys are with a noobie.

Well, that all changed about 6 rounds into the game where our team was down a couple of points with me at the bottom of the scoreboard. I figured this would happen as like I said I am still super new to the game and still learning how to play and all that. But, then my team mates start telling me how the losing of the game so far is all my fault and how much of a shit player I was and how they would be better off with a bot and all this and that. I don't know how someone can go from a nice, understanding team that I thought was in the game to have fun and what not to someone that instantly became toxic and made the rest of the game not so much fun. I played through the rest of the game with them talking shit and dealing with it, still trying to learn the ropes and hopefully start winning some competitive games eventually.

Needless to say, I did not really have fun playing competitive last night as my team was putting so much pressure on me being new and talking so much shit that it just felt like more of a chore than like I was having fun. I am sure that not all people that play the game are like that, but I have heard a lot of YouTubers and friends of mine deal with stuff like this on the daily.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and its not like I was purposely doing bad, I am just new and CS:GO isn't the easiest game in the world. Just kinda turned me off of competitive that night and makes me want to play with friends that are of the same skill level that I am instead of solo queuing and having to deal with toxic players like that, ya know?

TL;DR My first competitive game on CS:GO was kind of ruined by players that care way too much about the win and can't understand that not everyone immediately picks the game up and can get everything right. I am still learning, and would just like some down to earth teammates that are just a tad more understanding.

This is CS:GO. If you can't tow the line, you're going to get bitched at. This is why I never solo queue. Don't think that because you're not a good player that you're the reason that the team is losing. This is not the case. This is a team game, so the efforts of the entire team need to be taken account of before pointing fingers. There are going to be toxic players in every single game you're in, especially in the lower ranks like Novas and Silvers. Mute them and move on. Do your part, know your callouts, know when to push and when to play passively, and that's all anyone can ever ask of you. If you don't like the way people are talking to you, mute them. They can still hear your callouts, but they can't talk to you.

Find a group of people you enjoy playing with and it will make the game loads more fun. If you don't have any friends to play with, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is a good place to look, but I would wait until you get ranked first. Once you get paired with people of your skill level, toxicity shouldn't be as big of a problem.

Don't let this one bad experience put you off the game, trust me.

I've put 1000's of hours into the game & it's great.

You will come across people like that, just ignore them and move on, everyone starts somewhere, keep practising and you will improve.

Ever need any help/tips, send me a message.

I was just thinking about buying this game, I am also fairly new to PC gaming so I know how you feel since its happened to me on other games. When I come across idiots like this, I just mute them and play how I want.

Why would you go straight into competitive after getting the game though?

People who car about competitive are usually sweaty nerds. So feel bad for em.

I like to win, as we all do. But you have to lose sometimes to get better. Nerds don't seem to understand that concept.

But yeah, I prefer being a lower rank on comp due to having people who are actually understanding if you have a bad game.

yee I totally feel this, the main reason I dont play counter strike and hate me if you must but the community is so toxic. I once got called a loser because I didnt have like a painted gun. OK, I just quit cs after that.

Obviously not everyone is toxic but these really big games that people take wayyyyy to seriously have some pretty toxic players.. Its not that deep dude
