Rewatch the movies. In a lot of them he drove at least one super. His GTR R35 had the engine of the 2012 GTR so technically it was a super car with a sport car body.

The fact is these "tributes" are more of a trend than feeling bad/sorry for the guy and his family. It's typically made by someone who wants to feel good about themselves hence why they post it all online, Facebook, YouTube etc.
