This is for the kids that constantly ask whats a good car for this amount of money. So here it is, a list with price ranges of my favorite cars.
$0-$1000 Price Range

10. Volvo 240

Description: It's rear-wheel drive, comes with a manual and you can find wagons for the same money as the sedan!
9. Subaru Justy

Description: Japanese, Hatchback, 4WD, Doesn't get any better than that!
8. Chevy Corvair

Description: Its a great classic that's easy to work on and the mods are endless!
7. AMC Eagle

Description: A Piece of history and enjoy high ground clearance at its finest!
6. Nissan Sentra SE-R

Description: Sleeper at its finest.
5. Ford Crown Victoria

Description: Its a stock cop car, its badass!
4. Jeep Cherokee

Description: What you can get for your thousand bucks is a four-wheel drive SUV with a straigh-six and a five-speed manual. Heaven.

Description: Good luck finding an unmolested two-door, but the first Rabbit is getting so cool that even I started thinking about getting one

Description: We can't all have M3s but the E30 can be plenty of fun even with the weakest engine thanks to its fantastic chassis. Finding one is getting more and more difficult, but don't give up, it's worth the trouble.

Great list, will most probably help some people.
I've also made one of these but haven't bothered posting it, but it's a UK version.

stay away from those Cherokee's, if they haven't gotten a recall yet they can blow up while your inside it.

So what did you do? Look on Craigslist and list everything for 1k?
It depends on the condition of the car, how many miles, and where you are located. I can get a 2015 car for under 1k. Granted it will be totaled, but I can get one.
No offence, but in this price range it's a case by case basis. When you are looking at this cheap of cars, they will have problems and you need to see what problems are.

obviously anyone who is going to buy a car in the $1000 range knows it's going to have problems...
