Im on my single player world and I have spc on it but I need cheats on to use them.. I have used 'open to lan' to be able to use them but I have had 4 people join me now

I thought with lan they had to be on the same internet??

if I leave the world can they still be on there?

what can I do to stop people coming on because I don't want them to destroy my world
