Now I'm not religous by any stretch of the imagination and what I'm about to say may sound like bashing but I really don't mean for it to sound like that. I love everybody, no matter your colour or religion .

So you can find this used everywhere and for many different things but the mean reasons I made this was because of sports and a guy named Sam Rader.

Sam Rader case: Sam Rader is the guy who made the video surprising his wife with her pregnancy results, unfortunately she had a miscarriage but that isn't what imupset about. It turned out he was apart of the Ashley Madison scandal, he was one of the people who's information was released by the hackers and it turned out he had an account set up for an affair, keep in mind he's a very religous man. So with this happening he made a video saying he was "forgiven" and in the video his wife says she's forgiven him because god would want her to do so. I get that it is her decision but if the man you're married to try's to have an affair with some chick who's most likely some dude, why would you look to a higher power to resolve this very serious issue.?

Sports figures: everyone does this but the person that erks me the most is Russell Wilson, who's a very talented Quarterback who won a Super Bowl on his rookie contract. He's always thanking god for good performances and I just don't get it. It was you who developed this skill, some higher power didn't give it to you, you out the work in!

Edit: before you say it the motto is a joke.

like I get that maybe while going through treatment she may want to believe in a higher power to have some sort of faith but don't forget all those doctors.

Without bashing or making anyone mad hopefully, that's kind of frustrating. I get that people are religious, and they think God has a helping hand in every aspect of their life, but, the doctor or whatever the situation is is the one you should be thanking or gracious towards. If you want to thank God, thank him for helping the doctor go to school to help you. The doctor is the one who helped, not God if that makes sense.

I use religion because God created the universe, and he created each and everyone of us. Meaning he gave me/they the skills we have. Don't like it? Ignore it. Why do we say ''Thank god!'' when something good happens and say ''God dammit'' when something bad happens?

His point is that people should not say, 'Thank God' when something good happens.
Saying, 'God dammit' when something bad happens makes sense in a flippant way, you're asking God to damn something because you don't think it should have happened.

If all events are set in motion by God and it's all part of his divine plan then surely Christians would want to thank God even when bad things happen.
You're essentially proposing that all good things must be attributable to God, not individual people, and all bad things must be due to the will of something else, like Satan.

However, God is admittedly 'The Alpha and the Omega', he created everything and everything works to his end goal.
He knows everything that has happened and will happen, including the bad things.
He set the Universe in motion knowing that the world would be a cesspool of pain and suffering.
Satan might be influencing all the bad things in the world now but God chose to create Satan knowing that he would eventually rebel.
God created the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil with the knowledge that Adam and Eve would be coerced into eating from it.

If you deny this you're saying one of three things.
1) God didn't have the choice to create Satan, in which case he isn't omnipotent.
2) He did have the choice but didn't know what was going to happen, in which case he isn't omniscient.

If God isn't omnipotent or omniscient then he isn't worth worshipping and - by implication of semantics - he isn't God.

The third option is that God knew that the world would be filled with suffering but allowed it because the faithful will be rewarded after death.
In which case, Christians should look at all the suffering in the world, put their palms together, close their eyes and whisper, 'Thank God.'

People thank God for good things that happen to them because we believe without Him it wouldn't have happened. If you believe in Him then He's your inspiration/ what keeps you going through rough times so when you finally get to your goal and are happy about what happened then you thank Him. It's obvious you won't understand because you don't believe in Him like we do. Like how you mentioned Russell Wilson, he thanks God because he believes God helped him through everything to get him to where he is today.

How would they truly know God has forgiven them?

I think he just used it as an excuse because he felt guilty and wanted remorse.
