OKAY im on a windows and I need to download 8.4 software but every one I download turns into a zip file and I cant use it.. its for an IPhone 5 (GSM) does anyone know how to fix this crap?

I am actually having the same exact problem, I've been messing about with it for hours, I have a iPhone 5s (global) and i download the Ipsw for ios 8.4 and when I try to restore back to the downloaded Ipsw it says that the firmware is not compatible (btw im on Mac osx) it will be interesting to see of anyone has a solution

why can't you just extract it out of the zip folder?
