I have been riding my motorcycle for nearly 2 years now and although it is a great feeling to ride, it is very impractical in wet conditions so it is about time I got a car

Although I am familiar with the clutch and gears, I am choosing to get an automatic car as I am too lazy.

I was wondering how many lessons it takes on average for people to be able to pass their test? And how people find driving automatic cars?

Any information would be great, thanks

I'm yet to start so I can't really comment on the questions asked. However, I am interested in your motorbike. What do you ride?

Well coming from a geared bike i passed in 15 but didn't really need all of them. Not trying to sound cocky but i would of passed within 10, once you know the road on a bike and can master the clutch, you will pass.

Just one thing, the car is a lot bigger than a bike. I literally hardly ever let anyone go due to my experience on a bike.

There is no given answer as to how many hours it will take as everyone is different, you will still have to do your theory test as well so some time will be needed to revise for that + the waiting times as to earliest you can book your theory and practical test will slightly determine how many lessons you have.

However I would highly suggest that you learn and take your test in a manual, even if you will only drive an automatic after you have passed as it will be better in the long run for you

I passed in 10 hours worth of lessons
also, get a manual license so when you want to get a new car it doesn't have to be auto.

Yeah, do your licence in manual, better for jobs too

On average it takes 40 hours for a person to pass, however most people pass in 20 hours or so.

Having an automatic car is fine however do your test using a manual, doing an automatic test makes you more restricted when buying cars as well as courtesy cars and jobs.

Also, be wary that automatic cars are more expensive. For example I was looking at Nissan Micra's for my Mum and we found out that an automatic car was £2000 more expensive compared to a manual
