I wish I had a record player i always see the best albums at thrift shops! If you haven't been thrifting before I would definitely recommend it! Vinyls - 2.99 and CDs - 1.99 at most thrift store.

You should get a Orbit U-Turn. One of the best looking turntables that actually sounds really good for the price. The turntables they sell in Urban Outfitters (Crosley) are terrible. You can build a brand new Orbit for as low as $170.

The turntable I have is a little more expensive, I own a Pro-Ject Carbon, they sell for around $500, still on the cheaper side when it comes to high end players.

@Fabio_Frizzi

You have such pretty records!!! Both the sleeves and the records themselves.
That Zelda record, though!!
Big fan of that Star Wars 1 Soundtrack too!!!

@Doonscoop

I would definitely recommend getting a record player! And yes, no Crosleys! I wanted a U-Turn, but it's just a little out of my price range (being a college student blows when it comes to money. You spend it all on beer, food, and books!).

I ended up getting an AudioTechnica ATLP60 Turntable. Typically go for around $100. Its a great beginner table I have to say. I spent a lot of time searching, trying to pick the best table to get for my price range. When it comes to record players, spending the extra money will definitely repay you in quality sounding music (for the most part - some expensive setups can be absolute crap). This turntable, though, had great reviews, and even though it was more expensive than the cheap Crosleys (that looked so enticing!) I decided to go with it. I have been very satisfied with it. It's got a really good sound (definitely not the best you can get though) and is super easy to use. Just figured I'd give you another option if $170 was too much.

If that was your price range Turn, you made a wise decision. For the $100 they charge AudioTechnica is king. Like you already stated a great beginners table to spin wax. It probably has a USB which comes in handy if you want to rip your vinyl to your computer or if you want to spin Serato.

I'm going to just keep posting more record every few days. I have enough to stretch this thread out to 20 pages and my collection always grows. I have VBs at San Diego Comic Con right now, picking me up exclusives, since I cant make it this year.

I check out thrift stores and record shop regularly, but the records I buy you usually have to get on-line and most sell out rather quick, so you have to be fast if you don't want to end up paying flipper prices on Ebay and Discogs.

I have made some pretty good finds at random garage sales and estate sales.

Some other records I just snapped some pictures of... I need to make a Instagram account for my vinyl so I have a place where everything is documented in pictures.

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels

This album is amazing. Killer Mike and El-P have a chemistry that is unbelievable; especially considering these two MC's made this album as a side project build from working with each other on other stuff. Not only is this album one of the best this year, it think, in sometime, this will be considered a classic.

John Carpenter - The Fog

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

An absolute stone cold classic from director/composer John Carpenter.
The Fog was John Carpenter's first film after the low-budget success of Halloween, and tells the story of a small North California fishing town terrorized by a glowing supernatural fog containing the vengeful ghosts of six murdered lepers. Like most of Carpenter's films, the score was written by by the director himself. It built on the more simplistic piano melody and synthesizer combination of the iconic Halloween score to create something much more abstract and foreboding.

John Carpenter - They Live

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Original soundtrack to the 1988 motion picture starring Rowdy Roddy Piper. For the score to one of his most iconic films, John Carpenter, along with Alan Howarth, created what can only be described as electronic blues. The score is recognizable as Carpenter but has a dusty, slow pulsating western feel that really does give it a life of its own.

John Williams - Jurassic Park

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

One of the most iconic soundtracks ever created. Everyone knows that theme score tune and had made a special place for itself it the hearts of movie lovers around the world. Instantly recognizable Johns score is an absolute masterpiece.

John Williams - Black Sunday

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

One of Johns lesser known scores and movies. Black Sunday is the story of a terrorist group attempting to blow up a Goodyear blimp hovering over the Super Bowl stadium with 80,000 people and the President of the United States in attendance.

Sinoia Caves - Beyond The Black Rainbow

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This is one of my favorite soundtracks of the last couple of year. The movie is really bugger, super trippy, but this soundtrack kicks ass.
The trailer gives a good overview.

Fabio Frizzi - The Beyond

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The Beyond is a classic in Italian horror and the soundtrack is absolutely stunning. It has been sampled many time by hip hop producers looking for a dusty sample they can flip into a beat.

Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow (of Portishead) - Ex_Machina

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Amazing soundtrack from 2015. This and It Follows are among my tops for this year. The movie was really good and worth checking out if your into Thriller Sci Fi, but what really sets the mood over the top is the excellent score. The synth soundscapes dominate and nail the feel of the movie, very ambiant.

David Hess - Last House On The Left

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The soundtrack to Last House On The Left is a brilliantly unique and diverse mixture of farcical comedy, poignant, reflective folk music and instrumental experimentalism. Hess constructed a wonderful counterbalancing entity, which serves only to accentuate the impact of the movie.

Quentin Tarantino - Django Unchained

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Tarantino is a master when choosing music and score for his films and Django really reinforces that fact. An amazing collage of songs and scores from a variety of respected composers and artists.

Akira Ifukube - Godzilla

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Original 1954 Godzilla the only vinyl copy in 60 years, became very rare over the last few years. I've had some crazy offers for this and declined all so far.

Aria Prayogi/Fajar Yuskemal The Raid

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The original score to one of the best martial arts of movies of the last decade. This score was originally replaced for the Mike Shinoda (of Linkin Park) score, but this original one is way better.

So I was able to take some time off from work (brand new job) to head down to Austin TX for the annual MondoCon convention this year. Not enough adjectives to describe how friggin cool this con was. Had the chance to meet, shake hands, and bullshit with some of my favorite artists and composers. Attended screenings for Halloween, Black Swan, and The Goonies, all projected in a glorious 70mm film format. Met up with new and old friends and of course picked up a shit ton of vinyl and screen prints.
