Looking to buy a gaming pc and was wondering what would be better

AMD or Intel Processor?

I have a £500 budget.

Tasks would include Gaming(Dota 2 TF2 and COD) , Designing and also general work for university.

Thanks

Asking a broad question like that will only get you biased answers to be honest You should have your budget stated, and tasks that you want to perform.

That's not a valid question, you should state what you need it for and your price range.

Why an 8 core AMD? They are outperformed by a haswell i5 cpu.

@OP if you can manage £20 over, this would be powerful for design work and gaming.

If you can't manage drop the SSD and get this:

£500 budget for what? An entire system? Do you need peripherals? Is £500 just for the CPU? If so, what are the rest of your components or what do you plan on getting with it?

I personally would go with intel at the moment because there's no real upgradability with AMD. Say if you get the 8320 there's no point going with a 9590 because there's not gonna be any difference. But with intel there's a big difference between an i3 and an i5 which would make that a worthy upgrade.
