I keep hearing kids saying "I'm just skating, I'm not hurting anything". I absolutely hate this phrase because what people do skating does hurt things. Just skating from point A to point B doesn't hurt anything, but when people do their double 735 front olly kick flip grind (I'm not a skater, don't judge), it hurts what every you do it on. Grinding in particular.

When you grind on say a hand rail down stars you are stripping the clear coat, paint, and what ever else they put on the rail. This isn't just for them to look good, it's to protect them from rusting out. When the outside of a business is unsightly then some people won't want to shop there. Now the business has to pay to get it repainted (which is expensive) if they don't have to replace the whole hand rail.

Then I see these kids grinding on the cement garden wall things at businesses and what that is doing is taking off concrete. It won't be anything serious as far as structure goes, but again it will start to look bad and they will had to get it repaired or replaced.

In todays day and age people are "sue happy". Meaning they will jump out in front of you on your skate board so you hurt them so they can sue you. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you get hurt on private property (may be different in other areas, it may extend to anywhere) then you can legally sue the person who owns the property for your personal and / or property damage. The company can also sue you for doing your double 735 front olly kick flip grind on their hand rails.

If you want to do all these tricks and stuff, go to a skate park. If you want to just ride to work every day, just do that. DON"T DAMAGE OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTY.

Now you can thumbs down this and tell me just how wrong I am and how skateboarding does nothing bad to the area.

Well you can't thumbs down a topic, but skaters don't generally skate on brand new things. Like cement, you can't really grind on it (at least with the trucks of a skateboard) unless it has been skated on a lot. Sure, the people who start skating in spots that haven't been "broken into" are to blame for this, but it's not like skaters are vandals like you're making them out to be for grinding on isolated handrails behind a building.

I work at a grocery store, in the back by the loading dock is like an 8 foot drop with pallets and shit at the bottom. Skaters and bmx'ers LOVE to BREAK the rules and go back there and skate off and jump off. There are cameras back there and everytime they do the polie are called because there are sensors back there and the managers see the cameras. The manager just says "can you please leave" the skater kids say "no **** you" manager calls the police, police show you and they still dont leave . They are hauled off in the back of the squad car for what? For skating? How about you not be a little shit and obey the rules or private property?

I really hate kids who think its cool to nearly kill themseleves on private propertyy. If one of them cuts their leg open the parents will probably sue the company and goddamn itll be a mess.

Little skater punks really put a bad name on the rest...

I think if we use wax it kinda stops it ruining there thing we grind on a little bit? but I can understand where you're coming from. New things deserve to be skated, especially if its smooth.

First couple times you skate on a waxed surface, the wax is taken off. Just 1 day of people grabbing the rails would take off the wax.

It's not like us skaters see something new and is like oh sweet lets ruin this park bench for example
We usually skate on things that have been worn down from erosion and such
Basically by now there isn't much street skaters anyway.
Lotta youngyins skate in the parks seeming how much safer it is.

Not every town has a skate park and not every kid can drive/get their parents to take them places
I ride BMX but if someone says to stop riding a spot then you just leave, no point kicking a fuss because 9 times out 10 it just makes it a whole low worse.
Plus, I ride with plastic pegs, which don't damage stuff anywhere near as much as the steel pegs.
