steffess92 wrote Personally I don't do this as I don't care much for signatures. It really doesn't bother me though.

There are a number of reasons why people do it.

1. Main probable reason - They are not a gold member and want to have their own 'signature'.

2. Other possible reason - They just like to be formal? And sign everything they write.

The list could go on and on..

I would just like to point out your incorrect punctuation.

Here let me fix it for you.

But back to the topic. I agree with you and I can't stand this. Oh well i'll just have to suck it up.

He wasn't wrong to put 'signature' in quotations.
It signifies that it isn't a real signature, in this case the 'real' signature is the picture one used by Gold Members.
His point is that the '- Name' signatures are pseudo-signatures for non-gold members.
An easier way of writing, 'pseudo-signature' is to just say, 'signature' in quotations.

Consider 'this' isn't quotations... "This" is. The only time you use this '' is when you are quoting something inside a quote. For example..

The reporter told me, "When I interviewed the quarterback, he said they simply 'played a better game.'"

" and ' are commonly interchanged in non-professional texts.

Just saying it is incorrect punctuation.

OK, but if you're going to correct other people's punctuation, then make sure that your own is up to scratch first.
Oh well, I'll just have to suck it up.

Here, let me fix it for you.

You didn't correct his use of ellipses either, there should be 3 .'s, not 2.

He was obviously using apostrophe's as quotation marks. If you were correcting his grammar you would have replaced them with standard quotation marks.
You changed his point entirely by deleting them.

Obviously you can't take a joke.. But oh well.

Oh OK, you're going to play the 'It was just a joke' card.
All right then.

I don't see this happen as often as it used to a year ago from what I remember.

Honestly, I can't be bothered with it anymore but I don't see the point of doing it at the same time.
Maybe they need to reassure themselves of what their username is

They're only doing it because their reply to the post isn't long enough to break the 20 characters. Just downvote the **** and hope you don't see them in the forums again.

I do it because in my opinion it looks more formal.. I never do it to "break the 20 character" bullshit.

You have 'Eazy' written 4 times on every post you make.

Why do you need more advertising than McDonalds and KFC combined?
Most people seem to think that your name and a signature - if you're a Gold member - is enough.

One of my pet peeves is when somebody posts a rant about something they dislike so much then proceed to do it, whatever their reason is.
