Hi, I have a simple question I have been having a hard time trying to find the answer for. Since Microsoft updated Xbox 360's to support external hard-drives of up to 2TB... will an internal HDD of 1TB-2TB work too (non-modded console)?

I know it seems silly but you'd think if externals worked internals would work too. As of right now I have a 500GB and it is getting ever so full with every free game released and I like keeping them on my hard drive.

P.S. Also I understand if I were to buy a larger internal HDD it would not be from Microsoft it would be a third party drive formatted for the 360.

if its just because its a standard laptop hdd ect.. you can just buy one of these: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Basically it turns any 2.5" hdd into an external hdd

Oh yeah I know about those. I was just wondering if it would work internally.

No, it won't there isn't a HDDSS.bin for any drive larger than a 320GB drive, without a HDDSS.bin for the larger sizes there's no way to use them, so basically it would be pointless, you would limit your 1-2TB drive down to 320GB, its just not possible i'm afraid, not with a retail box at least

Oh ok. So it will work externally but for internal use I would need a larger HDDSS.bin file. Gotcha. I was hoping with the new [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] this would provide a larger HDDSS.bin file but I guess external HDDs work differently than internal HDDs. Also btw they have a 500GB HDDSS.bin. See [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Also the original post with it [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
