Pretty sure you've done the same lol.
What else are you suppose to say when welcoming a user to the site?

I'm pretty sure i haven't lol

True, but what else is there to say?

Its a nice thing to be introduced to a new site, some may abuse this, but if no one seemed to care, how would you feel?

I do like to welcome people to the site so that can fit in comfortably.

Not really that bothered. When people post the same topic as someone else did a couple of hours ago... that annoys me.

Its fine to welcome people but its those people who abuse it like you said and those people who just post the same stuff on several different threads.

Yep, I completely agree with this. It's ridiculous.

Here's a topic that I made a few weeks ago that's similar to this one.
Check it out if you wanna see some other replies.

I don't see the issue as every new Member likes a warm welcome to the Forums.
Removing it would have more questions posted on why other sections of the Forums count...

You could ask them about themselves, their hobbies, what they're looking to get out of the site.
If they've mentioned all of that stuff in their post then talk to them about it.

Not just, 'Hey, have fun.' over and over again on 10 different posts.

Mickers wrote When i go in there i try to personalise each post. I have seen people just basically have things on C+P which is a bit weird.

Those are the people that just do it for the post count though, not to welcome members. I see an issue with that, but I see no issue posting a ton there if each post is on topic and personalized to what OP said.
