I was wondering if I could do a crossfire setup with these two GPU's?

I would just get the 980ti if you can afford it. And AMD crossfire is for AMD cards only. You can mix nvidia and AMD together for gaming.

So yes or no lol, you say I can mix them together, but then apparently I can't.

That might have been a typo.
Short answer is no.
To use CrossFire you need 2 AMD cards of the same type and memory amounts, same with SLI you need 2 of the same Nvidia cards. You can't mix different GPUs or use 1 AMD and 1 Nvidia card.

I said to just get the 980ti. You can't mix brands.

You can have them installed and use one or the other to play games, but they can't work together with XFire/SLI. Having both would only be useful for computing.

Do you already have a 280? You can use it in XFire with a 7950, 7970, 7970 GHz, 7870 XT Tahiti LE, and 280X.
