I don't know what it is, however, over the last year or two, channel 4 has went downhill so much. Channel 4 have had their fair share of poor shows/documentaries, but now it is beyond a joke. They create documentaries, not to educate people on real world problems, but on benefits. It has created several documentaries and films regarding people on benefits and making them look bad. The aim of these shows is not to educate people about the struggles of those on benefits, nor the hardship and sanctions they face, but how 'wrong' it is.
Benefits Street is an example. The people on that street were filmed for weeks, but it was cut into just a few episodes. They used editing very well to make the people of that street out to be completely different people.
I am getting extremely sick of how society are looking on people who are unemployed. When people work, they pay into national insurance, so that they have the right to benefits if they cannot work. So why is it wrong to be on benefits?
The fact that the minimum wage is so low that people cannot live off it is the real problem in our society. There is such thing as a 'living wage' and there is such thing as a 'minimum wage'. Why are these two different? Why should people have to work for less than a living wage.
People can be better off being on benefits so they decide to stay on them. That is not their fault. That is the fault of the government. Why should it be possible to be better off not working? The people of our country should be entitled to the best quality of life, and if that means they stay on benefits, then they should not be made out to be the enemy by broadcasters such as Channel 4.

I don't think people have a problem with benefits it's only when people claiming benefits use their money for cigarettes and alcohol that people get annoyed at.
Also IIRC Benefits Street got someone a job (that guy who knocked on doors and sold essentials cheap)
They'll only be better off in terms of income, Experience is way more valuable if they actually wan't to progress, I think the people that should be on benefits are the people that actually need to be on them, when people stay on them and waste their money on stupid shit it ruins it for the people that actually need the money.

I work at a grocery store and I see people with EBT (foodstamps) who buy 80 dollar cakes... Do you REALLY need that? I see people driving Mercedes benz who use EBT (food stamps) if you were really in need of money how about you sell your over priced car and buy one you can actually pay for.. I see kids I litterally just graduated high school with using food stamp cards that have more credit on them than my entire 2 weeks paycheck..
If you REALLY need aid from yhe gov, ok fine yeah were in hard times I get it jobs are tough to get.. But if you make NO attempt to get a **** job and just soak up tax payers money to be lazy then yeah im going to have a problem with you and your lifestyle, espcially if you draw more money than me.
I understand what youre saying, yes people who draw aid from gov arent bad people, but if they abuse the system they for **** sure arent good people.. Televsion studios will always try and make shit seem worse than it is. Thats just how they make their money, I dont agree with it but thats what weve come to.
Btw wtf is channel 4? My channel 4 is the guide I think.

A single mom with kids and rent to pay. If she was to get a full time job on minimum wage, she would have less money at the end of the week having worked for the full week. Why would it be her fault to quit her job and live off benefits?
I know it isn't right. The point I am making is that it is infact the governments fault. If you are better off to not work, why would you? A lot of people say 'they get too much, they can be better off than someone that works'. However, that term could not be further than the truth. Just because they are better off, doesn't mean they are living a good life. It is frightening that people can work all week, yet, as the minimum wage is so low, cannot afford to feed their family.
It is a shocking system and the government needs to see this and correct THEIR mistakes and stop trying to pass the blame on to those who depend on benefits.
Channel 4 is a very poor channel on UK television that creates documentaries that shame immigrants and people on benfits.
