I've been trying to sort this out for the last 5hours, for some odd reason my laptop has been stuck in windows recovery which it gives me two options 1. Launch startup repair or 2. Start windows normally. I've tried the two options multiple times with no luck. I've also used google and youtube to see if i can resolve the issue but couldn't find anything.

If anyone can help me in anyway it would be awesome and i'll be sure to leave you with a lot of +rep.

My laptop is a packard bell laptop running windows vista.

Also if it's possible to avoid having to factory restore the laptop as i've got loads of family photos on it and college work

There must be someone out there that can help me

Thanks in advance!!

What I would do, is try grab a Windows7 copy and put that on it. Use the 'Upgrade' option so you will keep all of your files. And you have a shiny new OS.

I had this issue right before my hard drive went out.. Have you tried to repair boot sectors? as that help me temporarily to get my files off my computer before my hard drive went.
