Hi Everyone,

If you have been around on TheTechGame for several years you will have more than likely noticed this thread in the past. Due to personal experiences and the experiences of those surrounding me I always like to try and fundraise for Cancer Research UK each year. Different friends of mine participate in the annual Race for Life events and this year I wish to surprise the friend that I shared last year again. She is doing the 5k Pretty Muddy event which you can read more about [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If you are able to spare a donation towards this extremely important organisation then please see Colette's JustGiving Donation Page [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Everything is hugely appreciated! Even if you are unable to donate any money you could share the donation page around which may help gain interest and possibly assist her in raising donations.

Last Year:
Last year I helped to surprise a friend by helping spread her donation link. She was to go on and do the Race for Life and with her friends, family and TheTechGame's help she was able to raise £280.00. This was her [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] As you can see on her page she has also had her family personally affected by cancer. Please see last years donation thread by clicking here!

3 Years Ago:
As some of you may previously remember a couple of years ago Erin competed in Cancer Research UK's Race for Life. If you are unaware of this then it is an event where woman all over the UK will walk or run to help fund raise money for Cancer Research UK.

With the help of TheTechGame we were able to raise £1124.00. This is a substantial amount when every pound counts to help support research to cure cancer, volunteers who donate their time to fund raising as well as families who are going through the unimaginable depression and other issues surrounding a family member diagnosed with Cancer. Please see Erin's Thank You Thread by clicking here!

Many of you will have been fortunate enough that you have not had a family member or friend of your own diagnosed with cancer. I have unfortunately had both happen - My gran was diagnosed with cancer and it is simply a horrible feeling when you see someone going from strong, independent and full of life to having to move in with ourselves, becoming bed-bound and unable to even go to the toilet themselves. I have also had one of the girls that I was in school with diagnosed with cancer and you really struggle to understand how someone at 20 years old could end up with such a horrible disease. It is a terrible thing and i'm sure that I don't need to explain out why cancer is indeed so terrible as I'm sure you are all aware and i'm sure that you will know of someone who has been affected by cancer even if it's a friends family member.

Some of you may know that there was the #NoMakeUpSelfie trend that happened on facebook and twitter last year which helped to raise money for cancer research - The friend who I was talking about earlier that I was in school with and had cancer strike posted this.

I feel super incredibly beyond belief self conscious posting this but it's for cancer awareness and well... I felt it seemed appropriate to post a picture from when I was at my sickest to show what cancer actually looks like on a persons face. It's pain, exhaustion, anger, hurt, loneliness, and finally courage. I have never been more grateful for my own natural beauty (pfft) I adore my eyebrows and eyelashes I never really showed my face like this, I tried to hide actually looking sick. My eyes burned every minute of every day, my skin and nails didn't feel like my own and my lips cracked from poison. I'm happy this movement is happening but I also feel it is important to show women what reality looks like. Love yourself even if that means wearing make up to make yourself feel like a better you.

If you are able to donate then that would be fantastic, as said above - Everything helps in the fight against cancer. If you are unable to donate then that doesn't have to stop you - You can always try to fund raise yourself or even share the word about others donations. On the other hand if you wish to donate to Cancer Research UK Directly and not through my friend that is perfectly understandable and you can do so [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Another inspirational story which is receiving a ton of attention last year is [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and I would suggest reading about it if you have not already done so.

End Note: If you are personally fundraising for Cancer Research through the JustGiving website then please feel free to leave your link for donations on this topic.

Thank you!

I will be able to donate this weekend like $5 at most all I can get. Quote me on this Dale. I take this stuff pretty serious as I walk 3-5 6 mile walks for cancer. Last year I raised over $500.

Dale thanks for getting some members of the site here.

DMCA wrote can i donate! im from the usa? will it still count??

As far as I am aware you would be able to donate. The currency would just convert from USD to GBP - I will run a search to try and find out and get back to you.

Source from their website - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Your currency will be selectable to make a donation.

Absolutely! I would love to see this being spread around as the more publicity this receives then the more chance that someone will pick up on it who will be fortunate enough to give a donation towards Cancer Research UK.

I've lost many relatives/family friends to this awful disease, it needs to be eradicated for good. With these donations, Cancer Research UK can say for the first time ever that as many people now survive cancer as die from it. But of course thats not enough.

I spend shameless amounts of money on virtual, non-existent/non-important items, but I can gladly put the little I have left at the moment towards this.

Great to see this thread Dale.

Not much, but being unemployed at the minute its all I have left, hope others can find it in their hearts to support this organisation

EDIT: For Colette also.

Thrown in 20 GBP myself. I once again wish to thank everyone who has/will donate and has/will share this on Social Media. It's times like these I am glad to not only be an Admin but simply a member of TheTechGame Community.
