I just started my build and installed the CPU and a stick of RAM and decided to hook it up to the PSU to see if everything was going well. I turned it on and everything powers up, such as the fans, but nothing displays on my monitor. I've tried tons of troubleshooting tips from the internet but have had no luck thus far, could anyone please help me? My CPU is an Intel i3 4150 and motherboard is a Biostar B85S3+.

try a different output method, e.g. if youre using HDMI use VGA or DVI if still nothing try finding a different display even if you know the one youre trying to use works 100% still try find another display

Actually just tried another display with a different output method, still nothing . I'm starting to suspect that the board might need a BIOS update first, could that be it?

Yes. Clear the CMOS, try different displays, different display cables and different outputs. Try using your iGPU and take your GPU out of the system. If none of that works, you'll likely need a BIOS update.

Sounds like your RAM could be loose...

Take it out and re-fit it...

This is an extremely common problem.

Tried that but all RAM seems to be tightly in place. Also, does anyone know if it's possible to do a bios update without a CPU installed?

The default B85 BIOS will be compatible with your Haswell CPU...

So I'm not sure a BIOS flash will do anything.
