I understand what you're saying working in the fast food industry isn't as easy as you think but making $15 an hour is a little excessive. I worked at mcdonalds for about 2 months and I busted my ass and for only 7.25$ it sucked at times but then again there are people out there who work really hard and get a profession that doesn't pay shit that could suffice in this economy.

I wouldn't mind working at Mcds for that.

I used to earn £4.04 GBP.

What really got me was an article about "Single moms still won't be able to make a living at McDonalds". No **** shit they won't. Jobs like that are meant for unskilled workers and students. Why anyone thinks they should be making a living off jobs like that I'll never understand.

I do not believe that 15.00 USD is an accurate assessment for the work that they do. The managers on the other hand, I would be curious to see what they make, as they do have to do a lot more than people realize. (manage payroll, make schedules, deal with irate customers, marketing etc.) As far as the line employees. I feel that if you think you should be making more money, you should find a different job. I have said this before and I will say it again.. Fast food joints are meant for high school kids to earn a little extra money to do things with their friends, and unless you aspire to be a franchisee for McDonalds, it shouldn't be your career choice. In the US you can start in a factory working an assembly line, which is easy work, at around 12.00 USD an hour, and quickly gain your benefits and raises. You can go into a Quality Control position in my locale and start at 15.00 USD an hour with no experience needed. People need to do more research when it comes to jobs, instead of staying at dead ends, and complaining that nothing is changing.. make the change for yourself.

Well if Lionel Messi can get paid £300,000+ a week for playing his hobby, then you can't complain about them wanting more money.

Maybe $15 is a bit too much for what they do, but I can think of many other jobs which entails less work and pays more than working in a fast food restaurant.

I work for one of the biggest IT Solutions and services companies in the world, get paid well as well. I previously worked in a butchers, a warehouse and McDonalds.

McDonalds is by far the most challenging job I've ever had. You may sneer at people working there, but some of the people I worked with had far superior minds to me. Guy I worked with had a degree in astro physics, and he earns the minimum for an over 21. Also, young shift managers there generally progress to bigger jobs, an example would be the 20 year old who left to be a store manager at Morrisons, no degree, no A levels.

Strange how people see McDonalds as a pitiful and terrible job, yet most employers (speaking from experience) see it as an excellent thing as the discipline, trust and punctuallity the employees gain are lifelong traits.

Wordsmith wrote My sister works at a chemical engineering plant and her job consists of standing stationary staring at pill bottles for visible damages/imperfections

She gets paid 13 GBP/hour.

Laughable

That's relevant because she effectively does less than your typical McDonald's employee.

Shots fired, m9. Props.

Anyways, someone else getting more money should not bother you at all, OP. It's not your business or concern. Everyone wants more money.

Completely agree.

Working in a fast food restaurant is the epitome of a failure.

Ok, students - fair enough not a problem, when we get talking about ages 25 and above then we do have a problem, stuck in that dead end job expecting more out of it you should be disgusted with yourself, the quality of life they live is down to their own mistakes that they made. The fact they moan about low pay when its their fault that their own quality of life is shocking.

Most of them are incompetent and cannot get your order right on the odd occasion I do venture into McDonalds - couldn't care less if Mc'Ds didn't exist it would help eliminate obesity but lets save that for another rant
