Hi. It kind of grinds my gears that people keep saying next gen, when they are referring to the Xbox One or the PS4. It was next gen before the consoles were released. Now that they are, they're current gen. Since new games are starting to only be on the Xbox One or the PS4.

What are your opinions on this?

What gets me is the fact that the apparent "next-gen" consoles were already 3 years out of date compared to the equivalent PC hardware...

But, whatever floats your boat.

And yes, i agree. Next gen should only be called next gen if it's not released yet.

Didn't really think anyone would get annoyed by it. I call it "Next Gen", so people don't think I'm talking about Xbox 360s or Playstation 3s.

Fair enough. I'm not too into technology, so it doesn't bother me too much. I can see why a technology expert would get annoyed.

What gets me is people who feel the need to bash consoles. Different experience if you ask me.

It's not bashing if it's true...

Which that clearly is...

Just don't see the point in buying something that outdated just because it's branded as "next gen"

Both consoles will remain next gen until they either outsell there predecessors or support for the predecessors ends e.g. games stop being developed for them and/or online services become shut down.

People don't buy consoles for the hardware they buy them for the experience or budget reasons. PC master-racers don't seem to grasp this and point out the lacking hardware in almost any thread I see about consoles (bash).

Nobody argues that PCs don't perform better. I buy something "outdated" because I have fun playing with my friends, it's cheaper, and I prefer using a controller versus a mouse and keyboard. You don't need the latest and greatest to have fun.
