ok so today i was on my laptop (2weeks old) and my mobo crashed..... i know its still under warranty but i have important documents for work on it.... is there anyway for me to pull these documents before i send off for warranty? its an hp with win 8.1 gave me the error code 0xc0000185, and it just blue sceens to a recovery boot window. called hp and they confirmed its the mobo

You can get the data recovered off of the HDD if you take it to a local pc shop, they should be able to do it

ok thanks for the input....so there is nothing i can do i just got to take to a tech? i have a Bytecc USB 2.0 Drive Mate.

I feel like these companies should offer a data recovery service, but in any case if just your MOBO is down why would they wipe your HDD? That's my only question really. They shouldn't touch a thing on your HDD.

i will not be getting the computer back... hp is upgrading me to a different model for this one crashing so soon.

Connect the drive to a working Windows PC and you'll be able to access everything. Based on what you've said, the drive is fine.
