Out of nowhere a kid decided to pull me aside and call me jackie chan. I'm not even Chinese (75% Filipino). I just shrugged it off since I'd rather avoid an uneccesary fight (people at my school start fights over simple stuff like this). However, I feel as if racism towards Asians are taken more as jokes rather than being reconigzed as borderline racist. It's okay to call an Asian a ch!nk and tell them some stupid joke about how they can't see, but call a black person an n-word and everyone suddenly shuns you for being racist. This is a ridiculous double standard set by society.

That's like pulling a black person aside and saying, "Martin Luther King, Jr.!" or "Morgan Freeman!"
Who wouldn't want to be Jackie Chan?

I see your point though, all types of racism are unacceptable, you should say something to a teacher.
The same double standard goes for black people calling white people 'Crackers' though.

I feel like the race card is pulled all too often.
The point of equality is to be equal, if a black person can say the n-word anyone can, not just black people.

You're right though, any type of racism is shitty.
Just shrug off the tool, he's obviously just an immature kiddo. I'm sure someone will knock some sense into him eventually.

The race card is pulled way to often. I mean look at the academy awards. Not one movie with a black person as a main role or black person in nominated in the academy awards. WHat does Al Sharpton do? Says the voters are racist. But you dont here white people complaining about how the NBA hasnt had a white MVP in over 15 years. Double Standard is at a all time high because of people like Al Sharpton

perhaps they are scared of Asians, i mean they are the most vast partition of the human race. point being, racism exists. it's something human beings do to others who look different from them. some people agree with it because they don't know any better. there has to be an understanding.

i mean it's not like Asian folk's are going to not often poke fun at other races.

i'm white and i sometimes can't stand people from my own race, bloody honkies.
(yes i'm white. and i called my race a bunch of honkies)

i believe that there should be balance between all races.

oh and remember if anyone is remotely racist to you, if you aren't racist back then that means your better than them ;)

Racism is very unacceptable. You should tell a teacher or someone who works for the school.

Racism is always going to be a touchy topic. No one wants to talk about it, but we all blame eachother for it.

I want to add on to the first paragraph. I dislike it when some people think whites deserve the same punishments for because of "their ancestors". Most of those people complaining about racism have never experienced it first hand and just assume things because of what media spews out. Like you said, the point of equality is to be equal, not revenge.

OT: I've endured through the same situations all throughout Elementary to Middle School. I also feel like certain racism is seen as a joke rather than a serious matter. But like I said in the first paragraph, the media plays a large role on why this happens.

Most "racism" in school is purely a joke. But for some people they take it too far. Most racism is held towards black people too. I only make racist remarks to people who I am close to and I know they can take a joke. Otherwise, I stay away from it.
