Sanctyy wrote I'm saying I have no idea, because I can't assume what will happen with games and technology. For all I know, 8k panels could become the norm this year and games might release that need 16 threads, then your CPU and GPU would need upgraded. Realistically, you should be fine for a good few years. Xeon performs similarly to an i7-4770 and the GTX 970 will provide playable FPS at 4k, so with the option to SLI, you're good to go.

ok thanks again. i will update as parts come in bye bye bank roll.lol i think im just going to go ahead and get both 970s and a different psu but all in all ill probably use your build set up.

actually the 970 wont play some games in 4k due to the vram issue and theres no need for a hyperthreaded processsor for gaming find a game that drastically benifits from hyperthreading

Heres a better build

970 not playing games in 4K. It will. please leave it be because the 3.5GB VRAM issue isn't an issue. does it effect the benchmarks that have already been done? does it affect reviews and performance? The 970 is still a bad ass card and you can't deny it. Yes 4K on Crysis 3 will be a struggle but every other game will run high on 4K.

thats the thing with this build im trying to do i dont want my brand new system to struggle at all with anything out right now. its fine for future games because no one knows what the next standard for games will be. i guess in noob terms im trying to "future proof" enough that when the next set of highend games come out i can play right below 4k without much issue or horrible lag

Yes, it will. The last 0.5GB of it's VRAM is a little slower, but it still runs 4k pretty well. You're right, there isn't, but games that utilise the extra threads will perform better, BF and Crysis as an example.

Also, that build has a terrible case and PSU in comparison.

No. Even your single 970 will run 4k. AAA titles aren't going to run at 60FPS, but that's because 4k is very demanding and even stronger cards won't be perfect for 4k.

ya but the 980 is nearly double the price. The last 500mb of VRAM is just slower its still there.

ok kind sir did you watch the video yourself? he was running 2 games on ultra setting at the same time on one 970. of course it wont be able to hold and not stutter with 2 games running maxed out. me myself i normally only play one game at a time. so that wasnt very convincing evidence imo.
