Duplic8 wrote How did I contradict myself, I'm paying for the Big kahuna which is 152MB/s. I'm not paying for 160, because there is no 160. My speeds are just really good and I am right next to my router all wired up.

I've just upgraded to the "Big Daddy" package, just waiting on Virgin to get to my house (10 minutes away) to put multi room in so I can watch TV in bed #lazy

I'm with Virgin Media. The current best ISP in the UK, I'm paying for 150up and I just done a speed test and this is what I'm getting

Thats only better than 88% of the UK, so if 150up is the fastest, then what on earth are people doing to get better than that...

I'm on the same speed as you on Virgin Media, only places such as University's, colleges etc can get faster I think

Uranious, I think you have to qualify as a business to get over that, you are right

The reasons why businesses can get faster is because of the amount of devices needed to connect

Mmm, Yes, seems logical and correct

It's called fibre to the premises, instead of using a street cabinet, the fibre line goes straight from the exchange to your house, currently BT are testing it with like 5% of UK houses/businesses, with speeds reaching 330down & 30up

The down side, it is ridiculously expensive.

Let's get some things straight here. Your ordinary household pays for ordinary interwebs. Due to peak times and what not, your never going to get your rayed speed 24/7. Things like routers, cables and even people can determine your speeds.

Businesses get business internet. Through fiber connection, realisticly, there is no set limit to their upload/downloads speeds. However, they do pay the premium for it and not to mention, that internet is then shared to many people in the same business so not everyone gets that speed. The same factors change as above.

So yes, someone may get 600mb download. But that's connection straight onto a server and getting direct fibre - probably.

Speed test.net is not even that great. Even on the same server, your speed can vary.

Must knowlege is a wittle bit rusty in this so if any nerd knows I've got something wrong, point it out plz.
