Hey Guys!

So I'm at uni doing a game development course & we have a subject dedicated to android development. The first 6 weeks is apps & the last 6 weeks is focused more on games.

I've been programming off & on for 6 years and the last 2 years i've been dedicated to enhancing my knowledge in programming & the life cycle of apps/games.

I have experience in Visual basic, C#, HTML5 & JavaScript, Java & C++. I haven't found any of these to difficult to adapt to.

In the first week of my app development class I found it really daunting. The ide we use is android studio and we will be developing the apps in JAVA. The structure of apps confused me so much. When I use java i usually Blue J. I was just wondering if any of you guys use android studio? Does it become a lot simpler once you understand the structure of an app?

Also are you guys sitting any classes/course that includes programming? What do you think of them? Do you think the online stuff is better than the class stuff for learning?

If you have experience with the language I don't see how one IDE would be hard to understand over the other. The structure should be the same, because its the same language.

Here are some tutorials on how to get started/Used to Android Studio.
Also, mess around with the layout of the IDE you are using. Maybe you can get it like the one you are used to.

I've been looking at the new Boston videos on it. Explained it better than my lecturer. When previously developing jave I used blue J which Is a super basic ide but it got the job done. I wasn't really looking for tutorials man. Was more just seeing what others thought of android development.
