I have been fed up with my internet for a few years. We pay for 10 Mbps (2 megabytes) and we get around 1 on a good day. It's really sad actually. I was wondering if this is legal, as it does say up to; it's still really pathetic knowing how much we pay a month ($32.00). It's impossible to play COD, or any FPS game. I'm on a 1 bar/ 300 ping most of the day. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Switch your internet provider. Simple fix. It could also be a problem with your router.

I can't. The only one that I could pick is Time Warner Cable. Except they want $4,000 to put a line of wire down my road. Apparently, not enough people live on my road to be eligible.

I think that you are overindulging your situation. I have literally used my iPhone 5C as a hotspot, connecting my phone to my Xbox before and been able to play online just fine. If it is really THAT big of a deal, contact you ISP and let them know that you are upset with the service you are receiving.

It's just that I literally lag EVERY game. I can't stand playing with a 1 bar, it is literally impossible.

We have contacted them over 20 times. They do ABSOLUTELY nothing every time.

From what I understand, ISP's in the USA are money whores so to get better interwebs, pay more.

Its not that great in the UK either but we do have decent speeds.

What they are doing is perfectly legal. And actually, they want to make it so that people that pay more get higher bandwidth than the rest that dont.

I have had friends with similar issues, a lot of companies do this and you have to call and complain about it sometimes multiple times in order for them to fix it.

Outside sounds real nice in this situation.

Either get a new ISP, try a different router / modem, or deal with it.

Just increase speed=complain=if they do nothing= threaten to sue for false advertisement= they'll fix.
