I've been doing research on computer building for a few weeks now and I decided i wan't to save up for one. My budget is anything under 1000 Canadian dollars after tax.
This is what I have so far.

I wan't to make it a bit cheaper so I might go with the pentium g3258 (overclock it to around 4ghz) then upgrade the cpu to an i7 later on.

Is this a good idea? Any suggestions on cutting the price will help.

Getting the Pentium when you have enough for an i5 is stupid. i5 will be more than enough for gaming anyway. You could get this;

If you want, drop the SSD and swap the GTX 960 for a GTX 970, then add an SSD later on. The GTX 970 might put you slightly over budget. If it does, swap the 2TB HDD for a 1TB HDD.

As for cooler, I'd save for this;

or a better air cooler(Noctua NH-D14, Noctua NH-D15, Phanteks PH-TC14PE etc), or even an AIO.
