Okay so I woke up this morning my xbox 360 arcade would not read a disc. I have a old arcade xbox the same kind but it does not work so I opened the old one up removed the disc drive and put it in my current xbox I turned it on and it won't read that disc I either get a error message or it's says play DVD or it just boots me offline. Do I need to get me cables to the disc drive? What could it be? Please help.

When you swap DVD drives on an xbox the dvd drives have to be the same model so you can take the original DVD drive's board out and put it in the new DVD drive, otherwise you will have the issues you are having.
So swap the drive boards if the two drives are the same model, if not you'll have to buy the same model as the original DVD drive then swap the drive board.
