Blue heelers a.k.a The Australian Cattle dog.
If know one knows what a blue heeler is here's a brief description:
strong attachment to their owners and other family members , and can be protective of them and their possessions. attitude to strangers makes it an excellent guard dog when trained for this task, and it can be socialised to become accustomed to a variety of people from an early age as a family pet. It is good with older, considerate children, but will herd people by nipping at their heels, particularly younger children who run and squeal.

I have a black lab, but id have to say my favorite would be a german shepherd or a german short hair pointer.
