For a first car go with a banger that's cheap on insurance. First cars should never be expensive as there's a high chance you'll wrap it around a pole trying to amuse your idiot friends, Don't bother trying to deny it... that's what teenagers do.

mk4 golf or polo would be cheap on insurance.

Pretty sure your insurance company won't insure you for that car because your a new driver and new driver are likely to crash, I would just go for a golf or a polo

Corsa, Polo, Micro? ugly af but they insurance is the cheapest you'll be able to get just don't buy anything with the words "GTI/GTR or Turbo" it'll add to the costs.

Golf's are typically quite expensive to insure in Rochdale, probably cause it's filled with too many *****, but I'd suggest something like a 107, get's the job done and manlier than a fiat 500

Corsa's or Clios are quite good for your first car.
