Title says it all.
I can't stand reading the comments people post in the news section.
70% of the time I bet these people don't even read the entire article before posting.
Like, are you so desperate to get the MVC badge that you feel the need to post garbage comments on every article you see?
Not all, but too many are off topic.
For Example:
There's an article about Destiny's leaked upcoming expansions including all of their contents.
Half the comments are "Oh I got bored of destiny a long time ago"
CONGRATS! What does that have to do with anything? Nobody cares that you stopped playing. If you're going to comment, please contribute to the topic.

Instead of ranting about users doing this, you do realize that there is a report feature, in which you can report them and get their comment removed should it be off topic?
Posting to other users and having a discussion about the game and what not is not off topic though, and that is part of the reason the news section is pretty cool. Just have fun with the site and when you see something completely off topic and what not, report them.

Good to know. However, I still believe a post such as the one I mentioned is off topic. If the topic is about the leaked expansions for a game, and you decide to share your opinion of "I got bored of this game a long time ago," then you are not adding to the discussion. That's a BS comment and we both know it.

I agree with you, I dislike when I notice user's posting completely irrelevant comments on a topic.
