I do this all the time just out of a habit, it doesn't increase Zoom.

In order to increase the zoom of your aim, simply do the following:
1. Press LT and remain zoomed in
2. Press YY quickly (this changes weapon from 1st to 2nd, then back to 1st)

Boom you have done it. You should notice that you have slightly closer zoom, which can be the difference between killing your target or your target killing you.
