I have a LG smart TV aswell and I never have a problem with it. There was a 1 second delay aswell for me on my Xbox but its not the TV its just the xbox settings which I changed and then there was no delay.

I work in PC World which sells TVs and LG seems to be the only brand that ever gets returned like a lot constantly malfunctioning or outright breaking, your best bet is a samsung as you said or a sony

You have a delay because of the size.
Sit farther way from the screen and you won't notice it.

We still have a 50 inch plasma LG TV in our lounge. Never had any problem with it apart from minor screen burning but it clears up after a while.
