Chelsea set to become first Premier League club in England to pay the living wage
The move, which will come into effect in the new year, means employees will receive a minimum of 7.85 an hour
Chelsea FC today became the first Premier League football club to agree to pay every worker a decent wage.
The mega-rich London club will pay all staff the 9.15-an-hour living wage rate in London.
It follows a long-running campaign by Labour MPs to get professional football clubs to become accredited living wage employers.
The commitment means all staff and contractors will be paid the minimum amount experts say people need to live on.
