I've just build a new PC and I have 3 hard drives. One is a 1TB Seagate drive, a 40GB Dell hard drive from a computer that was handed down for parts by someone and the other is a 320GB Toshiba 2" drive.

My main hard drive is the 1TB one and it won't work on the new build and I thought there might be something wrong with it but I tried plugging ion the 2.5" one and that wouldn't work either but then once that wouldn't work I plugged in the 40GB one from the computer for parts and it worked.

I build computers but I have never had this problem before. This is my rig so before I go off and buy a new hard drive and lost all my stuff I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on what to do.

Thanks.

Are you trying to install Windows to the main drive but it's not showing up in the BIOS?

I just bought a new HDD for the build and it showed in the bios so I guess the old one was just gone.

It could have been DOA. You need to format drives before they can be recognized by the OS, but the BIOS and partition manager should still recognize working un-formatted drives.

I tried plugging it into another computer I had laying around and it wasn't recognized by that either so I just went off and bought a new one.
