Too much blank space.
Maybe lowering the opacity of the grey to show the clouds a little would have given the piece a little more.

Okay, cheers.

Although the comp is for modern wallpapers. In modern wallpapers, there is a lot of simplicity.
Thanks for the feedback!

Swap the grey and the image around... See what it looks like!

Reducing the opacity will give it a little touch of something. Doesnt have to be a massive amount. Opacity is simple so will still fit with what you need.
The amount of blank space looks more lazy than simplistic (not meant as an insult, just no other way I could think to describe what I meant)

I'm guessing the main reason you got so many downvotes is because the style in which you decided to do is not only the most basic but also the most overplayed. Everyone and their mother has made something like this. Modern does not mean minimal effort, modern can be quite complex and does not require that much dead space. As far as making this better I would add more content maybe a soft texture or a geometric feel.

In that case maybe try some colour correction on the part of the clouds you will have showing. If you used the image in place rather than pulling a part from somewhere else.
All ideas
