Hey , I will be getting the GTX 970 for christmas and I am looking to buy a new monitor, Do I either go for a 1080p monitor or a 4K, I will be getting paid from work on New years eve so I would like to know which one would benefit me the most. I am aware that 4K is an amazing resolution but I was wondering if this graphics card would be able to handle it and play on ultra settings at the same time.

It seems to be the 970 is targeted towards 144hz 1080p or 1440p gameplay put it still does okay at 4k

Well, the 970 will max out 1080p with ease. It'll play 4K but not fantastically. Honestly, I'd say 1440p is the sweet spot for the GTX 970.
