I am debating on whether I should get a cheap intel processor such as the Pentium or get a AMD with more cores and faster GHz but around the same price. I've read up on a lot of different view points on intel and AMD and there are a lot of mixed feelings about the two. I will be using it for Gaming such as CS:GO and Black Ops 2 and maybe even some GTA V. Thanks

AMD processors seem to do well on the game you specified but none the less I'd say get an Intel processor due to the upgrade path. What is your budget as the only true amd competition comes from 100 pound plus cpus.

Quick additional info, most games and processes cannot physically utilize more than 4 cores so when buying a cpu you shouldn't really focus on its number of cores.

Everyone is on the intel bandwagon if you aren't with intel you are going to be left behind.

Im willing to spend about $130 on a AMD 8350 or a intel cpu similar to the preformance of the 8350. And yes im aware that no games will use all 8 cores but I would rather have 8 cores rather than 2 cores if I were to go with the Pentium. Although the Pentium is only $69 rather than the 8350 which is $139USD

I would rather have a better preforming CPU than go along with what everyone else is doing.

As you've been told, Intel beats AMD. AM3+ is dead and with the 8350 being over 2 years old, it's out-dated. The G3258 has more and bettr upgrades. Xigyy can vouch that the G3258>FX 8350. The 8350 is a bad choice regardless, 8320 over 8350, Intel over AMD. You can get the i5-4440 for around $165, but if you want to overclock, get the G3258 and a better GPU, then upgrade to an i5/i7 when you have more money.

Get yourself a 4440 or a 4460 if you can afford it, or get a Pentium and shell out on some decent water cooling. Pentiums can perform on a similar level to a 4770k if you overclock.

What makes the Pentium better? jw. Yea AMD 8350 is old but it has more than 2 cores and comes 4.0 GHz stock and can be overclocked to 4.8 GHz or so. The Pentium statistically doesn't seem like it would out preform the 8350.

The Intel Pentium G3258 is only dual core however it's single core performance beats most cpus going and it's huge availability to be overclocked really bumps up its performance. Overclocking a higher end cpu would be better but for its price compared to other cpus, when it's overclocked it flat out beats them and in comparison to an out the box 8320/8350 it essentially beats them both. The Pentium can be average but it's potential and pricing is what really makes it the best. It's essentially the fact if you want it to run fast it will, providing your cooling is good and you have a stable ocing motherboard. Somebody could probably expand on this, preferably Xiggy

Also before you talk about how not all 8 cores are gonna be used, I already know that im not backing up AMD because it has more cores. But im just saying the Pentium isnt up to par with only 2 cores it would be nice if it had 4 cores
