Hey Guys! I have been wanting to get an import. I am between the silvia s15 and a gtr r34. I would prefer a gtr r34, but they are so hard to get. I ultimately want to mod the car in every way possible. What do you think?

Considering that R33-34's are illegal in the U.S. You might want to come up with another car to import.

No sadly you cannot, and even if you got it registered in a state, it's still federally illegal.

lol sorry, after 25 years they could possibly become legal, but we'll have to see then.

Why are they illegal? I heard it was the CARB rating.

They were very unsafe and they weren't even close to passing the US safety standards. A company called motorex had a deal with the government that allowed them to import them, and then make them safe enough for the US and then sell them to the general public, but it was later found out that they really weren't changing anything, so the company was shut down and it made the situation with r34s worse in the eyes of the government. Basically don't own one unless your ready to see it get crushed.
