A 15-year-old Army Cadet suffered burns to his face after he was attacked just minutes after selling poppies for Remembrance Day.

It happened at about 6pm yesterday as the 15-year-old boy was waiting at a bus stop next to the Manchester Gallery opposite George Street in Manchester.

The teenager was wearing his camouflaged uniform having spent the day in the city centre selling poppies and collecting money to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Greater Manchester Police said he was approached by a man who, without warning or provocation, produced an aerosol can and a lighter which he used to spray lit fumes in the direction of the unsuspecting teenager.

Wow. We have been told to be cautious and stay on high alert, if this turns out to be another unprovoked terror attack on a cadet/solider all hell will break loose.

Hope the kid is alright and it doesn't deter him from doing what he loves also that they catch the rotten person responsible.

It wasnt whilst he was selling them.

Some coward did it as the young cadet was waiting at the bus stop to go home.

We dont know if it was because he was selling poppies or it was just an act of cowardice by a moron.

Either way I hope someone gets hold of him!

We all know it was because he was selling poppies. Saying 'it was just an act of cowardice by a moron' is just a way of trying not to offend a minority.
